Chutzpah’s Diamond Star Product of the Week.

by Katie on May 3, 2010

Folks, I’ve decided to start another weekly column.

This one is dedicated to all those fabulous beauty or fashion products that we regularly consume. What I hope to do is highlight true ‘diamond star’ products that I have either used for years, are new to me and must be shared or have been recommended to me by word of mouth.

What better way to be introduced to a product than to have your friend or a trusted source tell you of its brilliance. Trust me, this will be varied…from tights to self tan and fragrance to fripperies. Enjoy!

This week’s Diamond Star product of the week is Boots No 7 Skin Illuminator.

This one is a recent discovery but after only a week has become a staple of my make-up regime for Summer. It very much reminds me of a favourite product from Lancome, now sadly defunct, that was used by nearly every make-up artist I encountered in the ’90’s on my many fashion shoots – Lancome’s Maqui Superbe, which used to come in silver or golden highlights.

Do you want to achieve Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new dewy nude look yet combine this with bold red lips? Look no further than Boots No 7 Skin Illuminator for help. This gives a soft dewy sheen to the skin without it being heavy and looks naturally radiant due to its irridescent particles. Coming in two shades, peach (slightly warmer and more golden) or pink (a white/pale pink tone), the illuminator can be used as a make-up staple, adding dewy sparkle and immediately updating your existing make-up routine with its soft, pearly glow. Depending on the colour you plump for, this can be used with different make-up for day or evening. The peach and pink tones give different looks and feels. And, it can be used alone or under make-up.

The Boots No 7 skin illuminator can be brushed onto skin with an applicator similar to YSL’s Top Secrets or simply squeeze a small amount onto your finger and dab. I reverted to the application I used to use with Lancome’s Maqui Superbe and used a small brush, painting it onto my eyelids as a highlighter and also dabbing on my cheekbones.

It’s amazing how much this simple addition transforms your look. A magic little product that’s a Summer necessity.

If you try it, please let me know what you think by adding your comment. Drop by your local Boots No 7 make-up area and have a play. Boots No 7 Skin Illuminator is £10.50 from all Boots stores and www.boots.com
