Accessorize launch cosmetics range that rocks colour and attitude

by Katie on September 30, 2010

I tell you who I’m impressed with this week; Accessorize.  They’ve taken all the best elements of their brand (ie the youthfulness, the colour, the energy, the myriad cultural inspirations) and have translated this into a show stopping cosmetics range that I’d be pleased to dabble with and in fact, run amok.

The range reminds me of the glory days of bright Biba make-up in the early ’80’s (in one of it’s re-launches)…all poppy brights, glitter, intense shades and creamy hot colour lipsticks.  It’s been a while since a high street make-up range has hit the nail right on the head and this one does it for sure.  Barry M’s a certain hit regardless of age or earning power and Accessorize is on a par with this but with the fun ramped up x 10.

Looking for high density, intense pigment powder colours in  bright blues, oranges, pinks and greens on a par with MAC?…You got it.  And all for £3.  Want some baked eyeshadows in poppy colours or marbled eyeshadows in muted metallic shades?…Accessorize rocks it.  Add to this the simply beautiful range of nail polish shades in names such as Mermaid, Aztec, Crystal Shimmer, Molten Copper, Truffle and Rose Gold and you have quite an in depth collection.

There are five unique themes in the cosmetics collection and all very Accessorize:  Rock Chic, Exotic Brights, With Love, Illusion and Je t’aime. ‘Rock Star’ embraces the edgy, glam rock look while ‘With Love’ boasts a selection of on-trend lip colours and blushes, eye shadows and baked bronzers.  ‘Exotic Brights’ contains my favourite neon eye dust (£3) in hot magenta, teal storm and tangerine dream to name a few while ‘Je t’aime’ offers smoky eyes and dusky nail shades as well as pretty pinks and slate greys.

Thinking of everything, there are a range of brilliant stocking filler make-up gifts from eyeshadow and lip collections to box sets.

This is the perfect range for a teenage vixen.  Or for her older sister or mum, for that matter.  As I say, I’m impressed.  Pure fun.

Accessorize cosmetics launch at the end of September 2010 from www.accessorize.com and Superdrug.  Prices are:  For nail polish (£4), Mascara (£6), single eyeshadow (£4), eye pencil (£3), merged baked blusher (£5), lipstick (£5), highlighter (£7)
