Spencer Hart Mayfair store launches with celebrity party

by Katie on September 15, 2011

Earlier this week,Spencer Hart, founded by Nick Hart, ex Chester Barrie, Aquascutum, Timothy Everest and Jil Sander launched launched its flagship store on Brook Street.   The store is a modern den of maleness with architectural references and good use of space with hanging dividers to create different ‘room like’ feels. Like wandering through a good architect’s office with plush suits, the Spencer Hart store also has a hidden VIP like den in the basement, this time decked out in black and rather too ‘padded cell’ for my claustrophobic tendencies but this area, with its a different array of suiting and accessories and with exclusive service is bound to be a hit with city boys and celebs alike.

Hart’s tailoring is sleek with a modern British edge as seen by the types such as Daniel Craig, Sean Pertwee, Robbie Williams, Alex James and Brett Anderson (from Suede) who wear the label.  Hart’s elegant approach and his understated coolness adds a certain knowingness and appeal.  The fact that the new store will display Hart’s ‘less is more’ ethos directly opposite bastion of taste and luxury, Claridges, will no doubt bring him new and powerful admirers.

The different worlds of Spencer Hart are shown in the new store within their distinct environments. The new ‘Palm Springs’ collection includes denims, chinos underwear, luggage, shoes and fragrance. These new product forays are positioned alongside the traditional Spencer Hart tailoring offering which the brand has built its success upon since Hart’s Saville Row inception in 2002.

Celebrity guests attending the launch evening included Margo Stilley, Alfie Allen, Richard Coyle, Alex Turner, Laurence Dallagio, Patrick Kielty, David Grey, Sean Pertwee, Brett Anderson, The Kooks and Daniel Stevens.

The new Brook Street store will also house the brand’s foray in to a number of new product lines such as books, films, music and art. Special brand partners include Floris, Edward Green shoes, leather goods by Swaine Adeney Brigg, Oliver Goldsmith eyewear and a selection of carefully selected vintage cufflinks and timepieces.
