The New Sheridan Club’s Christmas Party

by Katie on December 11, 2011

When people in the West End are stumbling out of clubs looking like TOWIE rejects and assured that the beauty routine de jour is over tweaked hair extensions and heavily applied camel lip gloss, there is a whole other society of Londoners of the most stylish, dapper variety. Among the numerous vintage clubs and societies is the quite fabulous and most revered New Sheridan Club, a motley crew of Chaps, the Bohemian and the Bourgeoisie who all have one thing in common – they know how to dress. Period.
For this year’s Christmas Party at The Punch Tavern in Fleet Street, The New Sheridan’s theme was ‘Spies’ with the announcement that there was a mole right at the heart of The Sheridan organisation, feeding information to the enemies of the Club and Chappism so a mole hunt was being held to flush them out. Attendees were urged pre event that debonair double agents were required of the James Bond, George Smiley,Mata Hari, Anthony Blunt, Scarlet Pimpernel variety to hunt down the viper in the club’s midst. The storyline was certainly more believable than the latest set of Eastenders plotlines.
In theme, there were games such as Berlin Wall Jenga and a James Bond Opening Credits Shooting Game in the four divided off areas replicating Cold War Berlin (American sector, British Sector, French Sector and, of course, the Russian Sector), magicians gave lessons in the art of deception and spy themed raffle prizes were awarded.
There were numerous black hearted cads intent in wangling information from the fair fillies in the room. Some of the latter included 1930s and ’40s ladies doing their bit for Blighty and Pre-Putin Russian special agents, blinged to the nines and commenting on the ‘Capitalist Dogs’ present.

Seek out the New Sheridan Club and keep a look out for its forthcoming events.
