Christian Louboutin launches 20th Anniversary Capsule Collection

Christian Louboutin, the man who put love and luscious back into designer shoes when he launched his business twenty years ago, is to launch a capsule collection of 20 styles and six one of a kind handbags.
Included within the collection is the famous ‘Pensee’ style, revered by Louboutin as ‘the shoe that inspired the red sole’. This edited collection is a look at Louboutin’s work since launch and embodies the central themes that have come to embody his substantial craft. His love for art, architecture and design, his love of ‘showgirls’ and cabert, his love of travel and far flung destinations and his attention to detail through his craft are all embodied in his works. Louboutin likes playing with proportions, textures and scale and his love of women and how they move on his glamour heels have ensured a devotee like following and world wide acclaim.
Louboutin’s love of showgirls and cabaret is seen in his recent link with Paris cabaret venue ‘Crazy Horse’ where he has has just directed four original and unique tableaux, inspired by the eclectic worlds of hip hop to art masterpieces all with their own take on femininity. It only seemed fitting to go back to his roots, whence his earliest designs where meant for the stage – La Plummette, one of his archive models is described as ‘an ethereal show embellished with a flurry of feathers’.
“Being born and raised in Paris, I have a precise idea of  couture and Parisian elegance” explains Louboutin. This sensibility is captured in ‘Armadillo’, an elegant peep toe d’Orsay pump which has been updated for the capsule collection with the addition of a metal pin heel and a delicate ankle strap.
Each style in this limited collection is rich with history, full of life and carries with it, it’s own unique story of creation and inspiration.

Says Christian Louboutin of this venture, “In France, twenty years defines a generation. This is a celebration of the first generation of this brand: an anniversary of its first young adventure.”
Embracing social media, this collection is to be launched via Facebook where fans can sign up on a special tab  to receive an email invitation to shop the collection. It will be also available for purchase at a special pop-up store launching at Selfridges on 27th February and in Christian Louboutin boutiques from March.
