NEW L’Eau de Chloe – As Fresh As A Summer Day

by Katie on March 13, 2012

It is very rare indeed that I find a new masstige fragrance that I love on first spray, but that is the case with this gorgeous little beauty – L’Eau de Chloe. I was even sent some ‘L’Eau de Chloe bubbles to blow that perfectly capture the light heartedness and free feeling of this newbie perfume.

It is a rare thing- the re-worked flanker fragrance that turns out to rival and dare I say it, even improve on the original but this one does exactly that. An original interpretation of the Chloé rose created in 2008 by Michel Almairac (Robertet), Chloé’s signature fragrance soon gained a classic status in a few short seasons.
Like the original, it’s original, feminine and a breathe of fresh air, only this time, the air is distinctly green hewed with big giant water splashes, like fat raindrops on long grass – a welcome Summer shower releasing the day’s scent, on a stiflingly hot day. It’s astoundingly uplifting and complex yet subtle for a mass fragrance. Layer over layer of scent memories and ripe evocation are distilled in this  heavy glass cube of riveted glass with its lusciously quenching pale green hue.
The original city-chic rose scent, so instantly recognisable, now reveals itself in a new and different  light, a declaration of freedom fresh from the Chloé rose garden, the work of the same perfumer.

L’Eau de Chloé contains an exceptional concentration of distilled rose water, which lends it a rare refreshing feeling. Light as dew, this chypre rose seems suffused with pure oxygen. A delicate citrus harmony recalls gulping back Summer’s thirst quenching, ice-cool lemonades. Spirited and elegant, airy and ethereal, the rose leaves the merest subtle presence on the skin and little by little, patchouli appears in sophisticated touches, evoking the luxury and perfection of wearing a flawlessly finished garment.

This one’s a winner. Go try.

L’Eau de Chloe is priced at £36.50 for 30ml, £46 for 50ml and £61 for 100ml. Body Lotion is £26 for 200ml and Shower Gel is £23 for 200ml.
