Kate Spade Celebrates Chelsea Flower Show

by Katie on May 24, 2012

That wonderfully quirky and idiosyncratic New York based brand, Kate Spade, has a Brit Creative Director to lead the way and boy, does Deborah Lloyd do it in style.
The brand is currently opening stores aplenty from the UK to South America and beyond and the expansion is understandable with the label’s upbeat, sunny and quirky disposition.
To celebrate London’s Chelsea Flower Show in our first week of really hot weather (hurrah!), the Kate Spade team invited us down to take in the multitude of colours in store, the especially orchid strewn windows (by Absolute Flowers) that had passers by double-taking and, of course, a preview of the spiffing new collection replete with luscious leather bags and ‘Rock the Casbah’ t-shirts and bracelets. (I wonder if they knew that The Clash’s “Combat Rock” was released 30 years ago almost to the week?).
DJ and singer Jade Williams AKA ‘Sunday Girl’ played laid back, Summer sounds ranging from The Cardigans to The Supremes while guests mingled in the air conditioned haven.
There were CocoMaya sweet treats, heaps of prosseco and the best lucky dip goody bag in a long time. The only thing missing in true English Enid Blyton style was the ‘lashings and lashings of ginger beer’.
