launches at Dover Street Arts Club

It was time for something new on the scene so when I discovered that Andrew Curran, co-founder of and Chairman of Amara was launching, I headed along to the launch at one of my favourite new spots since its refurbishment, Dover Street Arts Club.
The brainchild of Curran, is a unique site that also serves as the ‘who’s who’ of the millinery scene featuring over 20 designers including J Smith Esquire, Philip Treacy. Emma Yeo and Cozmo Jenks to name but a few. is dedicated to ensuring that milliners from across the globe are represented, and continuously scouts for new talent. Their mission is simple; to create a global destination that allows customers to browse and buy the world’s finest millinery, creating a one-stop shop and a much needed community for hat lovers across the world. originally taps into the international appreciation of millinery and provides a quick, easy and high standard of service enabling customers to virtually try each headpiece on. This unique feature, which is available via the web and integrated with facebook allows a photo to be uploaded and scaled to size in order to illustrate exactly how your chosen headpiece will look prior to purchase. Curran seems to have thought of everything.

The launch, too, was quite possibly the most fabulous hatting event of the year pre Ascot. Proving to be a who’s who of the millinery glitterati, the night began with a bang as ‘Top Shelf Jazz’ entertained with their retro feel and as the champagne flowed so did the extravagant headwear on show, with each guest trying on headwear and snapping themselves at the various iPad docks throughout the room. is a welcome addition to the net with its total professionalism, sleekness and vast array of cutting edge milliners.

In the future, guest editors of the site will be regularly invited to take over the helm to provide their insight and insider knowledge on all things hat related, whilst designers stocked on will also contribute regularly.
