Chanel Pops Up in Covent Garden

by Katie on July 30, 2012

Covent Garden has gone through quite a renaissance in recent years what with the addition of Burberry, Apple and L’Artisan Parfumeur being some of the stores now taking up residence there. It may not quite capture the edgy street appeal of the early ’80s when Covent Garden was the hub of everything hip and life centred around the Piazza, Floral and Endell Street, but still, it’s a welcome addition to the gamut of regular high street stores found there.
And, no your eyes are not deceiving you – that is an actual real Chanel Pop-Up store opposite the Apple store in the main piazza, filled with beauty goodies and lots of expert Chanel consultants and advice which will be there until December. Inspired by London’s unique spirit and Covent Garden’s rich heritage, Chanel has gone out on a limb with this charming, friendly store.
The beauty (pun intended) of this little Chanel find is that is accessible. Often intimidated by entering a Chanel boutique or being afraid of being over sold at a beauty counter in a dept store, the Chanel pop-up gives shoppers the chance to experience the brand and its products in a welcoming environment with lots of opportunity to try out the products – oh, and there are many. The world’s leading make-up artists, nail technicians, theatrical artists and stylists will come together in one place previewing exclusive products, giving special make-up classes and advice to ensure a dynamic interactive experience.
On my visit, legendary make-up artists Mary Greenwell and Kay Montano were there as was world famous nail technician, Marian Newman and creative, edgy nail wonder Sophy Robson, all giving tips and advice.
I also discovered the beautiful two-tone gold/green Peridot nail lacquer (how did that one ever escape my notice?) as well as the excellent extreme shine nail lacquer that gives a blingy chic sheen to your nail colour and makes quite the difference.

The store is open NOW and even has its own website and twitter addy #CHANELatCoventGarden
