Dior introduces the Golden Jungle Make-Up Collection

by Katie on July 20, 2012

Caught in the rain once too often on jaunts to press days, I now bear the worst cold and sore throat – can’t sleep, can’t taste, can’t eat solids. I’m not very patient and I’m certainly less so when housebound and feeling ill so it cheered me heaps to see these beauties. Looking at ‘lovely things’ is a nice way to go on a damp, wet Friday in July.

Mitzah Bricard, Dior’s muse was famed for her mystery and for her addiction to leopard print which has become a staple at the House since Dior’s first 1947 collection. Avant-garde, sophisticated and sensual, the jungle motif has been one of the trademark signatures of the House of Dior from its debut. With each decade and catwalk show, variations of leopard print, in dots or all-over patterns, continue to be cleverly reinterpreted by Dior Couture. Taking this to beauty, in his Dior Autumn/Winter 2012 makeup collection, make-up artist and photographer, Tyen, revamps this jungle motif with a passionate touch: infused with gold, this chic animal print becomes even more sophisticated and deadly.

The star product, the Golden Jungle Palette, combines shimmer and matte textures in a trio of leopard-print eyeshadows with a sumptuous gloss. Available in Golden Browns or Golden Khakis, this limited edition palette is the ultimate accessory to achieve the Golden Jungle look in an instant. The 5 Couleurs Designer palette has also had a jungle make-over for Autumn in Khaki Design; a sophisticated selection of matte and shimmer textures with an eyeliner.

Also new for Autumn is the most magnificent 3 Couleurs Glow palette in Ivory Glow or Nude Glow – a trio of shimmer shadow, matte shadow and a dark shadow to line the eyes, which create a glowing, smoky effect. The Nude Glow is the perfect day to evening shadow with it’s subtle shimmer and smooth slide casing. Pair with brick red (for evening) or Dior Addict lipstick in Limited Edition ‘Daring’, a sheeny deep wine that’s bold but just the right side of cool for daywear.

For the nails, there are two new limited edition shades of Dior Vernis polish – Amazonia and Bengale, in addition to the exciting limited edition Golden Jungle Crocodile Leather Effect nail duo. This latter combines a shimmering gold base layer with a khaki crackle top layer, which creates a unique, crocodile effect.

Fiendishly feline and a tad ‘out there’, the Golden Jungle look makes waves in an urban jungle, even if that urban jungle means plush cocktail bars and restaurants.

Dior Golden Jungle launches exclusively at Selfridges from 30th July, and nationwide from 10th August 2012.

Golden Jungle Palette (Limited Edition) is priced £52.00. 5 Couleurs Designer is £40.00. Dior Addict Lipsticks are priced at £24.00. 3 Couleurs Glow is £34.00. Dior Vernis (Limited Editions) are priced at £24 (Golden Jungle Nail Art Duo) and £18 (singles)
