With a new lead designer at the helm taking the house in a new direction, nevertheless Dior remains true to the heritage of Christian by using its very firm roots as the composition for new projects and inspiration.
There’s a re-focus on ‘Miss Dior’ and all its elements. Monsieur Dior’s first fragrance released the first day of his haute couture show in 1947 and epitomising the house has a new face starring ‘Black Swan’ actress, Mila Kunis, photographed entirely in black and white by Mario Sorrenti and styled by the iconic Carine Roitfeld.
Then there are the other design elements to the Miss Dior story: A new shoe – classic, elegant and very Parisenne, the 1950s inspired curved heel adds a true vintage styling touch. And a bag, and whoah is it a covetable curvaceous little number – Slung over the shoulder at just the right length to look both sexy and still be comfortable, the size and weight of the Miss Dior bag is proportion exemplified. Made in a rich palette of colours and textures, each bag is handmade in the Dior ateliers using traditional construction techniques with the use of wooden moulds. It takes an expert craftsman a whole day to construct one bag. This is the couture of bags.
Dior himself said “Perfume is the indispensable complement to the personality of women, the finishing touch on a dress.” By adding the ultimate ‘Miss Dior’ classic shoe and the bag (that every woman would adore), the new Dior team have kept it simple but extended the remit.
