Estee Lauder’s Autumn Collections – Paris by Night & Pure Colour

by Katie on August 9, 2012

Estee Lauder are on a roll for Autumn. Creative Director, Tom Pecheux, is known for his dramatic and sultry catwalk looks and showcased his latest look for Estee Lauder at the Anthony Vaccarello A/W’12 Paris catwalk show.

Rolling out big smoky eyes and Parisian dramatic gloss nails, Pecheux pushed hard on the glamour pedal, as Estee Lauder global spokesmodel, Joan Small, worked the look and walked the runway alongside Karlie Kloss.

Tom used eyelash like flicks of dark shadow atop sophisticated smudged smoky eyes, while lips were barely there. The black, burgundy and teale shades used on the eyes that were created to look late night and ‘lived in’ created the backdrop for Vaccarello’s smouldering sexiness. Peacheux used Paris as a backdrop to capture the intensity of Parisian nightlife.

The dramatic shades of the palette and the differing textures expressed confidence and swagger. Beyond Black and Metal Mania are the two shade statements that relay this. The Pure Colour Nail Lacquer Beyond Black Collection is available in five shades from Caviar and Bete Noire (a glorious purple) to Viper (a delicious gold green). These are, indeed, bold shades for Lauder who are showing (yet again) younger brands how to rock a look. Metal Mania dresses the nails in glam glitters with tempting names such as Nouveau Riche (a terrific gold), Smashed (bright purple) and Chaos (grey pewter) (All priced at £14.50 and available from Estee Lauder counters from August 2012).

Accompanying the ‘Paris by Night’ nail collection is the Pure Colour Vivid Shine eyes and lips collection. This is all about big splashes of colour heightened with hyper metallics for eyes and amplified, vivid colour in lustrous shades on lips. There is, of course, the perfect nude to go with Pecheux’s smoky eye dream.

Single shadows have crystalline laminate contained within them that amplifies colour to a glowing metallic cyber finish – Magenta, Electric Orchid, Fire Sapphire (all ltd edition) and Cyber green and Cyber Teal are names to tempt even the most shy (£19 each for eye shadows and £19.50 for lipsticks).

Capture a piece of Pecheux’s vision in the film below where model Constance Jablonski joins Tom to capture the feeling of the collection on film.

Sorry, no tips per se except to write about what you generally love as a) you won’t get fed up and it won’t be a chore and b) your enthusiasm will shine through.
