The Fashion Marathon – Vogue’s Fashion Night Out

by Katie on September 10, 2012

I’ve saved writing about Thursday Vogue’s Fashion Night Out as I think I’m still shattered by it!

I have to say that it didn’t quite go as I was expected as I knew it would be busy but not THAT busy in and around Bond Street, which for once, looked like Oxford St on a Saturday.

This was great news for many and it’s good to see so much excitement generated by fashion but I have to say that it just made a blogger or reporter’s night a lot more difficult including massive crowds, gaining access (even when on the list), establishing news and celeb updates on who was there and why and also just rushing hurriedly from one event to another. In fact, I think that there is such a thing as over-promotion when the brands feel pressurised to perform and it begins to put off even the most fashion avid among us from attending the event next year. We’ll see.

My route included taking in the following stores and there’s pics below to give you a flavour of the action and the new products being released.

Acne – Arrive early to find a near empty store and handsome boys in Acne t-shirts serving rose and a refined and elegant pianist. This was a great start. Eased us in.
Tod’s – Love the team at this elegant house and, of course, they did it in style. Cocktails were provided by Annabel’s with Diego Bivero and promoted the gorgeous new Tod’s Signature Special Edtion Tote exclusively created for the event while Sam Young and Bip Ling DJ’d. The after party at Annabel’s (my first time there) was an eye-opener. Guests attending the Tod’s store event included Sophie Heseth, Princess Florence von Preussen, Henry Conway, Amy Molyneaux and Guy Pelle.
Jaeger-Le Coultre – Showed us the release of  the Valextra clutch with Jaeger-Le Coutre attached watch. So gorgeous. But more of that in another post.

Samsung Galaxy stage – Popped by brandishing my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and supporting the brand. Also caught up in a quickie tutorial as was using the Galaxy 10.1 for the first time that night.

Burberry – A quick pop in to one of the busiest stores of the night but we arrived before the band had started.
Moschino – Love this fun team who always do something different, this time launching the Gennarino bear iphone case. Ketel One vodka cocktails and a host of bloggers and  Moschino’d up customers appreciated the best music of the night. V impressed.
Matthew Williamson – Caught up with Matthew for a quick pic opportunity before heading onto…
Stella McCartney – Again, busy, busy. We probably timed this one wrong but the lovely PR made time to show us the new launches for Vogue’s FNO – great embroidered knickers and the Stella initialed bag.

Coach – Quick pop in to say hi to the bloggers hosting the evening – Fashion Foie Gras, Coco’s Tea Party and Liberty London Girl before going off to….
Emporio Armani – Taking in live music. Again, we arrived before the fabulous Labrinth played and was hotly anticipated to be the ticket of the night. The drinks flowed in the Secret Garden at the back of the store. One of the best hidden spots in London.
Lanvin – Finally reached Mount St. The civilised part of Vogue’s FNO. Had photos taken in front of the Lanvin board before heading to…

Christian Louboutin – Louboutin tattoos were stencilled and cocktails drunk in the red carpeted store before heading for a last night stop at Annabel’s. There’s a first time for everything and what better night to experience it.
Over in Covent Garden, a whole host of other events were taking place in this growing fashion focal point as more high-end stores flock to the area. Model and presenter Izzy Lawrence DJ’d at Rugby Ralph Lauren while model, Irina Lazareanu DJ’d at Kate Spade. Chanel hosted beauty vending machines outside the Chanel pop-up beauty store and models strolled around with dogs promoting Radley.
I’ve learned from my rush around Bond St that next year I’ll do less and enjoy more. All work and no play makes Katie an exhausted lady. Enjoy the pictures!

All pics taken with the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, a fashion must.
