I’m going to mention the C word. It’s OK really as it’s in connection with the other C word. And, before you all get up on your high horse, I’m talking Christmas and Chanel. Usually I hold off on all jingle bells and deck the halls type posts until actual December but this beauty is too good not to share.
Peter Philips, the creative director of Chanel make-up has surpassed himself with this ultra sophisticated Christmas collection that concentrates on re-defining the classic Rouge Noir, surely one of Chanel’s most iconic shades. The newly re-worked shades are intense and glint with subdued sparkle. Not too much but just enough and in the right depth to epitomise Chanel’s ‘good taste’ level.
Rouge Noir is enriched with bronze and gold and becomes the densest, matte, aubergine lipstick (L’Impatiente) and a deep, dark red/burgundy nail polish flickered with gold, that has a heart of darkness (Malice). The jewel in the Christmas crown is the ‘Harmonie du Soie’ quad eye-colours in ‘hail hosannah’ burnished shades of gold, bronze, plum and pale pink. A replica of a CHANEL suit button, each shade has a quilted effect and is stamped with a double “C”. Just stunning.
Eyes now highlighted in shades of Christmas present, stroke cheeks with the ‘Stardust’ powder blush in high pink, shot through with gold to give additional highlights to cheekbones.
Chanel makes getting ready for Christmas a joy. Any one of these items would be greeted with delight from any woman lucky enough to find them in her Christmas stocking. Go seek out.
