So J Lindeberg is clearly well known and a go-to niche Swedish brand that has a global reputation amongst hip men and women alike but did you know that Johan Lindeberg’s other label, BLK DNM is making arty ripples of its own?
Says Lindeberg, “I see BLK DNM more as a creative project than a traditional fashion brand. The world doesn’t really need more fashion houses. I want to create something different – to be able to collaborate with great creative minds and thereby stretch the brand in different directions. I also believe that a brand should offer deeper content in this era. After all, the only person to do all of this is to create energy and to inspire people.”
To this end, Lindeberg has recently collaborated with Paris Vogue and renowned photographers, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. The recently released November issue of Vogue Paris celebrates “Beauty at Every Age” and features six strong women in BLK DNM photographed by Inez & Vinoodh.
The portraits include Daria Werbowy (28), Lauren Hutton (68), Stephanie Seymour (44), all on this month’s cover, and Loulou Robert (19) each wearing BLK DNM Leather Jacket 1. Worn by Vogue Paris’s range of beauties, the classic style relays each of the personalities.
“The proliferation of leather reflects changing roles. Women are more independent, confident and stronger, so they’re dressing stronger, in leather,” BLK DNM founder, Johan Lindeberg recently told the Financial Times, “There’s nothing more attractive on a woman than a leather jacket, even on a red carpet.”
Johan Lindeberg created the BLK DNM blog to give people a look behind the brand and to act as Johan’s own personal creative channel. Johan’s blog, like the Paris Vogue photographs, features in-depth portraits of people who inspire him.
One of the themes for the BLK DNM blog is celebrating women therefore this collaboration with Vogue Paris was an opportunity to support Johan’s admiration for the strong women who embody the BLK DNM aesthetic.
