You know you’ve arrived at the heady onset of the four weeks of heavy duty international catwalk fash-on when Swarovski release lots of news. Big time fashion industry sponsors who put the razz back into matazz and, by doing so ensure designers keep on doing their ‘thang’, Swarovski have just announced the seasonal Swarovski Designers Collective for A/W’13.
Fourteen designers have been selected for their craftmanship in the fashion capitals of New York, London, Paris and Milan. Kicking off proceedings in New York, Swarovski favourites, Prabal Gurung, Rodarte, SUNO, Creatures of the World and Band of Outsiders receive support showing that Swarovski goes from hi New York glam to edgy Downtown.
London Fashion Week designers linking with Swarovski include Giles Deacon, Eudon Choi, Mary Katrantzou (S/S’13 images pictured above), Emilia Wickstead, Marios Schwab and Huishan Zhang.
Simultaneously, Swarovski have released their corporate campaign, shot by the amazing Nick Knight who has given the world the digital fash bible that is showstudio.com (and boy are we thankful for that).
Swarovski pulled in the heavyweights for this campaign opting for creative visionary, Ronnie Cooke Newhouse (one time Arcadia brand creative advisor) and supermodel, Candice Swanpoel in the role of action woman, accessorised by her Swarovski Elements motorcycle helmet, dumb bells and skiing goggles against a backdrop of flowers. Whether these will become the ‘must-have’ items of 2013 is anyone’s game. Stranger things have happened in fashion.
