Uniqlo launches Celia Birtwell collection

by Katie on February 10, 2013

Just as we’re heading for the bi-annual fashion strut at London’s Somerset House next week (A/W’13), Japanese brand Uniqlo have managed to create their own headlines without going anywhere near a catwalk.
Known for their low key ranges of basics and their famed Heat-Tech t-shirts and vests* (*must-haves amongst the fashion pack), Uniqlo have just announced that iconic textile designer and ex wife and muse of Ossie Clarke, Celia Birtwell, will be collaborating with them on a range, due to hit stores in March 2013.
Celia has previously designed ranges for Top Shop (which, to date, remain collector’s items) so Uniqlo should expect the same fervour on release. Celia’s archive prints have been re-imagined; re-scaled, re-worked and re-coloured into an exclusive range of t-shirts, tunic vests, shirts, leggings pants, pyjama pants, culottes, tote bags and stoles.

Priced from £9.90, the collection launches into stores on 21 March and combines British Heritage with modern Japanese no-nonsense attitude.
