Libertine by Giles Deacon launches exclusively with QVC
What a charming man Giles Deacon is. He was the perfect host at the launch of his new jewellery line for QVC at The Ivy last night, happily mixing with the invited throng of press and bloggers and making sure everyone felt at ease.
I asked him why a jewellery line? He explained that he found that his brand could equally appeal to the ladies who lunch (sparingly) in New York’s upper east side (where he’s flying off to soon, to host a private salon show) as to a growing QVC fan-base who are just as enthusiastic over Giles’ designs, if not quite in the same financial strata. He’s a wiley business man who know that he can expand his brand without losing the focus of his energy – his mainline London shows.
Named ‘Libertine’ as ‘a libertine is unrestrained by convention’, the new jewellery collection is described as a mix of Edwardian eccentricity with punk attitude. And there are some stand out pieces, particularly the Tetris cocktail ring (£35), the Character Pendants (£30) and the Pop-Up bangle (£70). Comprised of metal and yellow gold embellished with Swarovski elements, the signature pieces reflect Giles playful yet sophisticated take on fashion.
Giles launches the collection on 10th March where he’ll be selling it live to the consumers on Freeview Channel 16, Sky digital channel 640, Virgin channel 740 and Freesat channel 800.
