YSL launch Babydoll make-up range

by Katie on March 17, 2013

As ever in London, Thursday nights tend to be the nights when everything decent happens. Why wait for the weekend with the fashion, beauty and media crowd?
Last Thursday was no different as a select group of bloggers gathered at the audacious, beautifully baroque Grill Room at the newly refurbished Cafe Royal. Everything was in the pink. Pink drinks were siphoned at the bar, pink Taittinger was flowing and a pink glow resonated in the room from lights and screens especially installed. This was the launch of the suitably pink tinged and compact YSL Babydoll range of make-up.
Lloyd Simmonds, YSL Beauty’s Creative Director of Make-Up was on hand to swishly and professionally create a look that took mere minutes to complete and gave a catwalk editorial look that’s actually easy to replicate. You just need the right tools and colours and hey presto! Voila Babydoll cosmetics.
The lynchpin of the group is the Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils which curls and separates the lashes and gives a ’60s eyes-wide-open effect. With its gold case and Babydoll written in pink, it’s appeal to a savvy youth market is unmistakable.
The graphic liner that accompanied the bold, pink-tinged, gamine look was an instant must-have. The brilliant pink, limited edition Rose Baby Doll (no.16) gave a wowsah hit. Pink. On eyes. This was a lift. And, a necessary tool for creating editorial looks going forward for A/W’13 where everything fashion goes a bit Carnaby Street (via Bond St) and Swinging Sixties without the polyester. Combine Rose Baby Doll liner with an outline in black for an even bigger, bolder reaction.
Lips were given a brush with bright pink Rouge Pur Couture a Levres Rose Baby Doll lipstick and its counterpart in nail polish.
All in all a great look, even if you’re no Baby nor Doll like Cara.

The BabyDoll Collection is available from 22nd May 2013. Prices are Mascara volume Effet Cils (£24.50), Babydoll Eyeliiner (£24), Rouge Pur Couture lipstick (£23.50) and La Lacque Coutue varnish in Rose Babydoll (£18)
