Agi and Sam are certainly the darlings of the moment. Mind you, as a duo constantly releasing their own quirky prints and designs that make headlines and blogger fodder look easy, Agi & Sam have sealed their fate as the newest, latest ‘bright young things’ on the London menswear scene.
The duo have just released a 20 piece strong collection exclusively for Topman that will bring their lither of ‘East London edginess’ to cities up and down the country. Inspired by last year’s Olympics and the effect it had in their ‘hood’ East London, Sam says, “When London was knee-deep in the Olympics, the idea of sportswear kept creeping into our minds, particularly the game hat lives in the hearts and minds of most Brits, football.“
The kits formed the starting point for the design process of the collection and from there, the full Agi & Sam football kits were designed. Proving that Agi & Sam have a commercial head on their very wise young shoulders as well as distinctive design prowess as creative and commercial opportunities with the big sports brands are bound to follow. Watch out Ms McCartney.
Building upon the fictitious ‘Owls’ football club for the kit, Agi & Sam used the owl induced prints liberally – eggs, shells, feathers, nesting, and all based on the perfect man to wear them – the young George Best. Suits, shirts, jersey and outwear were all adorned with owl, nest, feather and eggshell prints, cleverly mixing traditional tailoring with retro looking sportswear pieces.
