Alice Palmer makes Scottish Fashion Awards 2013 Shortlist

London-based knitwear designer Alice Palmer makes the shortlist for the 2013 Scottish Fashion Awards (to be held this year at London’s Dover House in Whitehall) as Scottish Textile Brand/Textile Designer of the Year.

A graduate of both Glasgow School of Art and the RCA, the pioneering designer is known for bold and boundary-pushing creations and aims to change the way knitwear is perceived. Inspired by science, technology, art and architecture, Alice Palmer creates sculptural ready-to-wear pieces focused on pattern and form. Employing unconventional knitting techniques, Palmer combines traditional and innovative methods to form garments that are groundbreaking, contemporary and wearable.

Palmer has previously been was awarded ‘Best Womenswear Designer’ by ASOS in New York in 2008, leading to a diffusion collection for the site that was launched in spring of 2009. She was also a nominee for the ‘Fashion Designer of the Year’ award at the Scottish Style Awards, 2009 and in 2010, Palmer was selected by John Galliano to show on-schedule at London Fashion Week as part of Fashion Fringe. 

Palmer’s spring/summer 2012 collection ‘Interstellar’ was exclusively launched in the D&G concept store in Milan in January 2013, with a nearly 100% sell through within the first month. Palmer has also been nominated for the ‘Young Fashion Designer of the Year’ award at the Scottish Fashion Awards in both 2011 and 2012.
