Esteemed publishing house Assouline are known globally for their roster of fashion, architecture, design and art authors and the simply breathtaking luxury works they publish. Assouline are, quite simply, synonymous with style.
The publishing house have just created ripples of delight within the fashion fraternity by opening in the location of one of their favourite haunts, Claridge’s. A glamorous launch party was held to celebrate the opening with many of the authors in attendance such as Ms Suzanne Syz and Mr Jonathan Becker (pictured above).
The new 530 sq ft boutique within Claridge’s is packed to the brim with influential and inspiring tomes on Veruschka and the Ballets Russes through to Barbie.
Featured prominently within the hotel, the new store (that looks for all the world like the world’s most well-stocked private fashion library) can be accessed from entrances at both street and hotel. This will be a destination call for luxury gifts and private indulgence as the selection is just so great. Huge, mighty coffee table tomes sit cheek-by-jowl with a compendium of fashion and arts knowledge.
The warm, welcoming design of the new store takes style cues from the Capital itself as well as from Claridge’s, incorporating them into the sleek Assouline visual DNA. The space is panelled with a floor to ceiling Mondrian style wall of books (one of Assouline’s trademarks) and has dark walnut floors and a sumptuous seating area.
Hand chosen items from all over the world sit on shelves and also line the walls, creating the comfortable womb of wealth and learning vibe. Each and every item is available for sale (including the ‘in our dreams’ special ltd edition Goyard trunk) alongside Assouline’s array of books ranging from £63-£1000.
In addition, this high culture hot-spot offers unique VIP services, including personalised books (Assouline Private) and a bespoke library design service.
Assouline’s new London location is a must-see for anyone with an interest in fashion and the arts.
Assouline is located at 49 Brook Street, W1 (next to Claridge’s) and open from Monday-Saturday (10am-8pm) and Sunday (11am-6pm)
