As parties and London Summer nights go it was as glam and as upbeat as it gets. Invited celebrity and media guests swarmed the Radio Rooftop Bar of London’s Me Hotel supping St Bart’s Mile High Margaritas, Ketel One vodka cocktails and Prosseco, set against the Capital’s famous landmarks – the perfect backdrop to launch Julien Macdonald & Melissa Odabash’s high octane, ultra sexy collection of Resortwear for 2014.
Natural evening light, space and plenty of glass and steel juxtaposed against the colour popping, thigh-slashed swimwear and Kaftan coverall sexiness of the outfits shown – the second collection by the high profile designers who bring the best in colour, sophistication and drop-dead sensuality.
Celebrities attending (including Nat Weller above) whooped in appreciation as the models walked the catwalk to ’70s stalwarts such as ‘Boogie Wonderland’ and ‘I’m Every Woman’ which had fashion wonderwoman Hilary Alexander and her crew (yes, that would include me) dancing along as the models sashayed Beyonce style to the music.
The DJ set by Smokin Jo, clad warrier-like in gold paillette sequins looked every bit as good as the models.
Zara Martin, Rosie Fortescue, Dionne Bromfield and Mollie King opened and closed the show (alongside a triumphant Melissa Odabash, punching the air in delight) as other guests including Becky Tong, Katherine Jenkins, Lara Bohinc, Zara Martin, Ophelia Lovibond, Patsy Palmer, Grace Woodward and Yasmin Mills looked on.
