I only got to stay for the first half hour or so of the Osiris glasses launch on The Gherkin’s 39th floor last night as I had a private dinner* to attend on the floor below (*I know, it’s hard being a blogger, huh?) .
If anything, I crammed more into the first half hour than I normally do in one night; I met up with other media friends, downed some pink champagne, took the obligatory ‘Oh look I’m in the Gherkin and look at London below’ pics and chatted to Tim Vincent, Diana Vickers and Pixie Geldof. The latter refused a picture, one of the few who’s ever done that. Make of that what you will.
I’m only sorry that I didn’t get to have a natter with Henry and Giles. As I snuck back up to the Osiris event after dinner had finished, I bumped into Giles who grabbed me saying, “I didn’t see you all evening.” It’s nice to be remembered, especially by one so charming as Mr Deacon. So what was the launch in aid of?
Paris based, Danish fashion designer, Jørgen Simonsen (ex Valentino, Chanel, Versace and Givenchy) has designed a 60-piece collection for glasses brand, Osiris, who duly invited many of London’s opinion formers to view the collection and celebrate its launch on a heady Summer night at The Gherkin.
Said Simonsen, ‘Glasses are such a big part of fashion these days, it’s a huge market with increasing focus on and demand for striking design.”
The 2013 Osiris eyewear collection by Jørgen Simonsen at Specsavers is available from 14 August and is included in its current two-for-one offer where two complete pairs are available for £125.
