Aerin’s New York City Color

by Katie on August 30, 2013

Aerin’s such a discreet plush little beauty brand. It defines that Upper East side lifestyle where wealthy women with expensively highlighted hair drift from boutique stores to brunch at Balthazar. Aerin simply reeks of all American East Coast Class where week-end trips to the Hamptons are de rigeur. As such it’s been criticised by some for being a tad too discreet, too beige. Soft taupes, beiges and cashmere soft, nearly nude lips are what the lovely Aerin is all about, after all.  But this season sees change.

The new Aerin Fall Color Palette is an ode to blue as a murky highlight shade and there’s even a gorgeous deep claret lipstick. Three versatile eyeshadows (Barely There, Smoky Navy and Midnight Shine) lend depth and definition. A wash of soft beige adds a blush of cheek colour to finish the look – laid back and polished.  The palette is pretty enough to flash with it’s gilt cover nestling in it’s soft pink protective cover. Aerin’s also introduced a deep, dark Kajal eyeliner in Skyline.

Two new lipstick shades play off the typical Aerin against a new bolder, evening Aerin. Madison is a modern take on a nude lip (hey, I told you, didn’t I?) while downtown Mercer is a deep slam-dunk of merlot – very dramatic.

Aerin Fall Colour Palette (£45), Kajal Eyeliner in Skyline (£22.50), Lipsticks (£24). The Aerin New York City Color is available for a limited time from 9th Sept at selected John Lewis stores, Harrods, Selfridges and online.
