As ever, the theme and setting was magical. Jo Malone are gaining themselves quite the reputation for creating jaw-dropping sets that not only enthuse the visitor but transport them to Jo Malone’land for that particular launch or season.
As Elvis predicted, it will be a Blue Christmas at Jo Malone this year. Blue baubles and hints of blue fir relay the light and bright new Blue Spruce scent – like a forest with snow trimmed branches. The Jo Malone HQ was scented with Blue Spruce, candles burning on tables and mantlepieces while a Christmas soundtrack of a traditional ’50s Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra played in the the background.
Santa was dressed in Blue Velvet (with thankfully none of the subterfuge of David Lynch) and hammed it up no end, “I have no idea about new fangled social media – the elves are all over it though for this Christmas.” Visitors (whether naughty or nice) were encouraged to have a photo with Santa while his photographic little helpers digitally captured the pic and presented a keepsake to each participant.
But the stars of the show had to be the exquisite selection of Jo Malone Christmas gifts, all wrapped up with the distinctive black and cream stripe Jo Malone bows. The premium Silver Collection has a Sterling silver home candle (£375), matchbox sleeve (£500) and wick trimmer (£25) while a striped glass, blue spruce deluxe candle (£115) ticks the box of Christmas & luxury. The JO Malone Christmas Crackers (£30) are the perfect stocking filler, containing grapefruit body creme (15ml), lime basil and mandarin body & hand wash (15ml) and Blackberry & Bay cologne (9ml).
Jo Malone have created Christmas Tree ‘ornament’ gifts (£20) containing English pear & freesia (15ml) body creme and pomegranite noir cologne (15ml). And, the striped traditional gorgeousness of a striped Christmas Jo Malone Stocking (£100). Gift boxes also contain the Pomegranite Noir Collection (£66), the Travel Candle Collection (£62) the Cologne Collection (that can be used to fragrance combine, £64) and the Home Collection (£140).
With beautiful presentation and the hard work re gift ideas done, shopping averse men or women should make Jo Malone one of their Christmas shopping destinations. But thankfully, it’s August and we still have five months before we stress about that.
