It is no secret that Tom Ford loves ‘70s sensual glamour – the hedonism, the big hair, the sleek sexiness of body-contouring fluid jerseys & sequins and the whole late ‘70s iconic Studio 54 party-to-excess vibe. So, it’s not really surprising that Mr Ford continues to wow us with a new beauty colour palette that veers from matte to sateen to starlight shimmer textures in two new limited edition ombré trios that radiate Roxy Music siren allure and sexiness. Whatsmore, they’re accompanied by the longest, chicest, Defining Pencil Pen that features a fine calligraphy tip on one end and a pro brush on the other. Wannabee 1970’s Roxy album cover girls eat your hearts out.
The new eyeshadow trios come in two colour palettes – ‘In The Pink’; a mellow soft gamut of pinks from Pink Rose to Pink Champagne and high-sparkle, Marshmallow Pink and ‘She Wolf’. Aptly titled and brimming with vamp from the matte black/brown to a lighter sateen charcoal and a light, moonlight silver-tinged taupe. Mr Ford says of his ombre trios, they’re “a monochromatic play of three contrasting textures that create dynamic dimension for eyes.”
As ever, Ford seduces us with the quality of the palette and the different depths that the differing textures relay whether applied with a single stroke or layered for a more full-on effect. Whilst ‘In The Pink’ is a definite option for day, ‘She Wolf’ allows your inner beast to prowl dangerously at night, full of minxy malintent. As suave ‘70s sophisticate, Brian Ferry sings, “Lipstick ‘n leather wear ‘n tear, Of another Sign of the Times.”
Ford knows how to layer on the glamour. Draw slick black lines on come-hither eyes with the ultimate Eye Defining Pen to stake your prey and finish with Ultra Length Raven Mascara to heighten eye impact. Apply a slick of Tom Ford Lip Color in rich, Bruised Plum or Vanilla Suede to seal the deal. Two colours that now become permanently part of the lip colour line.
The new Colour Collection also featured a new star of the show, a new product that we’ll all want – The Tom Ford Eye Primer Duo. This is a clever new little pot of loveliness, a unique duo of powder and cream primer formulas that work with the shadows to deliver fifteen-hour, colour-rich staying power. The stackable package comprises a cream base formula containing the exclusive infusion complex, and a translucent pressed powder that ensures that eye colour will stay fresh all day. Mr Ford may be celebrating eyes this Fall for he has added another four quad palettes to his mainline beauty collection featuring navys, browns, plums and lavenders.
For nails , Ford introduces a beautiful pale ‘Show Me The Pink’ shade and a shimmery deep taupe ‘Black Sugar Plum’.
Ford doesn’t forget fragrance by adding a flanker Hydrating Emulsion Fluid to his top-selling Black Orchid range. Smooth skin in rich scented lotion and allow for the magic to happen. Just like Ferry’s ‘Bride Stripped Bare of All Despair’ while beautified in Ford.
