Chantelle’s one of those hidden in plain sight French brands that has a rich heritage (going back to 1857) in both lingerie construction (the know-how) and design. They just don’t shout about it. And they should. For the lingerie pieces range from the moulded and sculpted (sheer comfort) to the beautiful demi-cup and fine lace visions that can tempt even the fussiest woman. This is a business with brains as well as beauty.
I dropped by Chantelle’s offices the other day as I was intrigued by their ‘find the right bra for the Little Black Dress you’re wearing’ campaign for A/W’13. A novel but educational approach to both the right fit of bra paired with the right dress and how to maximise one’s assets and achieve smooth lines while importantly, being comfortable. Indeed, it serves their ‘Little Black Lingerie’ range very well. The collection enhances different necklines, ensuring that there is a set of Little Black Lingerie for every Little Black Dress or outfit. But, let’s not get too involved with the trickiness of the campaign. The Chantelle lingerie itself is gloriously gorgeous, fit for any woman, of any size, with a penchant for looking good.
Opt for a plunge effect (with the svelte Merci push-up bra) or go for a little uplift with the Opera half-cup, beautiful lace bra). For those who choose to minimise, the Galuchet bra features a moulded shape and is paired with high-waisted briefs. Or to simply caress one’s curves, go for the Chantelle Vendome 3-parties bra (middle picture above) which envelopes curves and adds shape. Prices range from £26 for briefs and £45 for bras).
