Last night’s party at Vision Express in Oxford st* (*and yes I know that doesn’t sound appealing but wait…) attracted celebrities such as Marie Helvin, Game of Thrones’ actress Laura Pradelska, TV presenter, AJ Odudo and Mr Blumenthal of the Glasses, himself. And he couldn’t have been more charming.
While celebrity attendees (including Noelle Reno, Arlene Phillips, Marie Helvin, Olivia Inge and Made in Chelsea’s Louise Thompson) grabbled to try on the new frames (as idiosyncratic as the chef and his personality) and jostled to pose in front of the Heston cam, Heston happily mingled, posed for pics, chatted and was interviewed. Nothing was too much trouble for such a naturally at ease, approachable person. Such a difference to meet a celebrity who actually enjoys the promotion of his product instead of the more commonplace ‘jumping through hoops’ attitude. Vision Express head honchos take note.
Guests drank Mango Mojitos and vodka based Elderflower Summers’ and nibbled on beef carpaccio crostini and savoury cone canapés, while some disappeared off to have the exemplary Vision Express fleet of opticians give them eye tests and fit them with new Heston frames. Efficient, professional and pleasant. And a party to boot.
The Heston Blumenthal frames include Heston’s Sun Collection, the Signature Blumenthal Collection and the 36 piece Core Collection. There’s an increased range of colours and distinctive modernist designs all with Vision Express’s technical precision.
Heston Blumenthal Core and Sun Collections for Vision Express will be available from UK & Ireland stores and online from 2nd April with prices starting from £179 including lenses (core range) and sunglasses from £50. Heston’s Signature Collection will be available from 30th April 2014 with prices from £209 including lenses.
