I’m so bored of packing. Everything in sight has to be wrapped, packed and boxed pre my house move and it’s taking so long, I feel like I’m in Groundhog Day.
So, when some lovely brands sent enticing new products through the mail for me to trial, it’s been a pleasure to actually do something other than pack and box and bend and carry. In this case it’s been moisture make-up week.
Chanel, every girl’s go to product IF they can afford it, kindly sent some of the new ‘Perfection Lumiere Velvet’ make-up (30ml). This little black bottle of goodness not only applies like a dream but smells just as good. This is a very light liquid product which still gives a fair coverage and certainly smooths lines. The liquid goes a long way so be careful when squeezing the small, perfectly formed bottle. This liquid is smooth and dries like (the name) powdered velvet. And it’s a matte application which still covers redness, so is perfect for this writer who doesn’t like shiny too shiny applications. The effect is luminous and gives confidence. You’re wearing the lightest possible make-up that gives coverage and doesn’t seep in and need reapplying in minutes. I tried two shades. Beige 10 the lightest shade was perfect for my skin tone though I also tried shade 30 to see the graduated difference. There is a range of six shades available. To accompany this new launch, Chanel have also released two new powder blushes (£31). Perfection Lumiere Velvet (SPF 15) is priced £33 and released on Chanel counters from 11th April 2014.
Second on my trial list was Estee Lauder’s Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Moisture Make Up (SPF 30). Again, this make-up is a luminous and long wear, sheer coverage make-up with inbuilt BB. So, OK, the shade (2.0) that I tried may have been just that little bit too dark for my skin tone but this product impressed me for it’s light wear and staying power. Not usually a fan of BB products (too heavy on the skin, too trying to do everything with it’s ‘ not-sure if its a moisturiser or make-up’ approach) I was impressed that yes, it’s a tad heavier than the Chanel product (discussed above) but gives a sheer cover. It may be slightly heavier than the light-on-its-footsteps Perfection Lumiere Velvet, but Estee’s new baby is a definite goer for those seeking multi-action products who don’t want a heavy, cake’y feel. Just powdered matte loveliness. And it lasts up to 8 hours and is available in 8 shades. There is the option of layering the Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Make-up’ under your normal foundation but this, for me, would be more than a tad too thick. The new make-up (30ml) is currently available on Estee Lauder counters priced £29 while there is an accompanying Brush On Glow BB Highlighter (2.2ml) at £23.50.
