It was all a bit ‘where do you look first’? Should you concentrate on the Swiss horns being played on the red carpet, the Swiss guards, the queue of ‘elegantly dressed’ to be personally greeted by Executive Director Francois Le Troquer, the flowing champagne, the many and varied celeb faces (including Daisy Lowe, Jade Parfitt, Dougray Scott, Dynamo, James Norton, John Michie, Sharleen Spiteri, Abbey Clancy and many more). Or, should you just concentrate on the three floors and  twelve top global name shop-in-shop boutiques that’s combined value must be more than the GNP of some small countries? Truly staggering and obviously the new place to shop for your next super watch.

Watches of Switzerland truly opened with a bang. Fitting for Europe’s largest showroom (17,000 square feet) dedicated to luxury timepieces.

Following an eight-month build, the new space not only boasts the twelve brand boutiques, but a vintage watch collection, a dedicated Services Lounge and a state-of-the-art digital experience.

The evening soundtrack was provided by DJ Nick Grimshaw who had the basement ‘luxe’ area rocking in no time. As more faces rolled up and more champagne was poured, VIP guests chatted, strutted and well, mostly had a great time.  Apt as surrounded by watches ticking away the party hours.  There was no freebie Tag or Cartier in the goodie bag.  (More’s the pity). We made do with some luxury Swiss chocolate. Hey ho!
