Once you get past the over-sweet childlike name, Dolce Floral Drops, that smacks of the sugary hard boiled sweets of our childhood, this latest EDT incarnation of the original Dolce fragrance is ultimately feminine.
As full blown and flouncy as layers of mille-feuilles. there’s a smattering of too good, too white, ‘Little Bo Peep’ about it but this is telling you all the downsides before the upside. It’s freshness, it’s hint of biting greenness of the sharp Neroli leaves before it reveals layer after layer of whitenness – amarylis, white daffodil and white water lily all on a bed of softness – sandalwood and cashmeron.
Comparing the new opaque bottle with it’s bigger sister, there seems little change. The original has more depth and strength while Floral Drops seems to hide it’s fluttering eyelids behind a veil of organza.
Dolce & Gabbana’s Dolce Floral Drops will have obvious appeal to the girly girls or over girly women who like to wear their sweetness on their sleeve – open season seduction in full bloom.
Dolce Floral Drops EDT is priced at £44 (30ml), £56 (50ml), £66 (75ml) and £96 (150ml) an is available nationwide from 3rd March 2015
