It’s been a LONG time coming. And until it was announced, we hadn’t ever really realised that one of the big icons of Milan fashion didn’t have a make-up range? What tha’? Gucci must be up there with Pucci as way overdue in the make-up stakes. Now there’s an idea for Massimo Giorgetti, the new creative director of Pucci since Peter Dundas’s departure. (And yes, I do realise they did a brief brand link with gorgeous Guerlain a few of years ago which was impressive).
I digress. Gucci Beauty have extended their range (which was almost unknown – and I put my hand up to that one) from their stand alone stores to availability at World Duty Free. A boon for anyone travelling. The limited distribution and slightly cheaper airport ‘tax free’ price will render it covetable alone. However, it is the sheer gorgeous indulgence of this range that any woman worth her designer handbag will long for. The sexy Gucci packaging with the double G logo & matt black and gold sexiness, glinting of just enough 1970 hedonism. The twist up lipstick with its logoed barrel and its rich crème, vivid colour that as sensual as any luxe lippie could be. The shock and glide of the colour eye shadow palettes with the Gucci logo printed through the product. It’s all these that will grab your attention. And so they should. This range is a class act. It’s been a while since any big brand has launched with such aplomb. Probably, the last (also limited distribution) range that made such a wowtastic impact was Dolce & Gabbana. Those Italian brands, huh? They know how to be sassy luxury beauty.
There’s over 200 items in the Gucci Beauty range. Blimey! Gucci Beauty are going in BIG and making up for lost time. The range includes 18 foundation shades and 50 colour intense lipstick shades as well as sleek contouring lip pencils, mono, duo or quad eye-shadow palettes, brow pencils, eye pencils, bronzers, blush, glossy volumising mascaras and one of the best luxe finishing powders/highlighters I’ve ever encountered. This is a range to rave over.
Gucci Beauty is available from World Duty Free and also online. Prices are £48 for an eye shadow quad palette, £27 for a mono shadow and £38 for a duo. Lipsticks are priced £28, lustrous glow foundation £43, finishing powder £39, blush £37, bronzer £39 and mascara £27.
