I’ve always thought it a travesty that Dolce & Gabbana cosmetics and skincare isn’t more widely available that the exclusive Harrods. Purely as I think the slick gold product design, the seasonal colours, the range and that the product performance more than delivers. From soft matte lipsticks to swathes of deep colour eye palette quads in perfectly combined colour matches, cream mono eyeshadows and (my favourites) the powder blush and creamy foundation that’s *the* most wearable foundation and colour I’ve trialled (and is my go-to choice on evenings out) and you can see why, when I’m raving about the brand and range to my friends, they are pretty frustrated they can’t get hold of it outside of the Capital.
For Autumn 2015, Dolce & Gabbana have presented the most perfect collection of muted Autumnal tones in simply the most beautiful packaging that wowed us beauty blogger/editor types from the moment it arrived at our desks.
Where Dolce & Gabbana excels is so closely matching the colours and mood to their actual latest catwalk collection – shades, presentation and mood. It is directly from the catwalk to the high street…if it were available in the high street and not solely Brompton Road (aka Harrods).
Characterised by a duo of pink and red, there are splashes to highlight like amethyst, yellow and blue as well as the more traditional browns and natural golden hues. The AW’15 show was based on celebrating women and the role of mothers, grandmothers and daughters, the icons of Italian La Famiglia life. Designed to be both elegant and sexy, the look and feel is warm and easy to apply as well super sophisticated. Role models for the look were Monica Bellucci, Jackie O, Sophia Loren and Jane Birkin.
Classic cream lipstick in antique rose is paired with a Mono Eyeshadow and Nail Lacquer in the same shade. Straddling between beige and pale pink, the look is paired back. Or, team the same shade or a coppery brown (Leo Brown) with a classic vibrant Red Royal Matte lipstick for evening oomph.
There’s also a new shade of sheer shine gloss named Praline. Or opt for a deeper new shade of Purple Passion and clash with Jaipur Blue Nail Lacquer or a directional and classy Tahitian Grey.
The eye shadow quad in Fall Harvest pairs four complementary muted shades of purple-red, yellow, purple and grey that’s far from the norm but completely approachable.
