Narciso Rodriguez’s reason for creating this fragrance (released last year) was “I wanted to create an extremely sexy fragrance that would turn a man’s head.” And whilst wearing this, though I’ve not had this kind of reaction whilst others in my private arsenal of faves elicit such response, Narciso lies firmly in the entrapment school of seductive contemporary feminine, musky florals.
Narciso eau de parfum is rush to the head of white rose and gardenia with a slender foot in the metrosexual masculine base of vetiver, black cedar and white cedar extract. There’s a calmness to this perfume after the first wave of whiteness that softens out to an gentle breeze. It’s appeal is the balance between a woody musky dry earthiness and big burst of white floral loveliness.
Perfumer, Aurélien Guichard, continues to show his masterfulness re creating ultra feminine fragrances with contemporary slants. The design of the bottle with it’s square milky white appearance exemplifies the feel of the fragrance. Yes, I’m modern. Yes, I’m feminine. And yes, I want to stand out. Veering between seduction and grace, this elegant offer is for those with style and taste.
Narciso EDP is priced £39 (30ml), £58 (50ml) and £69 (90ml). Available from Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and counters nationwide.
