Fashion, with all its pre collections, RTW,couture short-run limited editions and designer tie-ups moves so fast that unless you catch on quick whether a journo or consumer, it’s blink and you miss it. And miss it, and often you miss out. Rather than create an over-hyped, over-exposed frenzy like the #HMBalmaination or the forthcoming #BlackFriday mayhem, some brands, even though high-profile and high-street, keep coming out with such stellar little collections and concepts that it’s preferable that it’s quiet rather than slow-fashion, without the ramped up media hype.
Take Topshop. This incredible little Christmas collection is beautifully tailored and quietly, confidently superior in its navy, grey and neutral tones. Grown-up fashion that could be worn for the next year without looking dated.
Devised as a sister collection to Topshop Unique (hurrah!), Topshop Boutique boasts quality manufacturing and premium Italian fabrics with an assured touch. Just right for a discerning older audience of die-hard Topshop fans.
This biannual permanent collection features definitive, carry-over pieces – from the classic T-shirt, cashmere jumper or workwear shirt, to the biker jacket, trench or tuxedo. There’s also a couple of jumpsuits, the go-to wardrobe staple of the initiated. Updates to the collection will appear each quarter with new monthly product instalments and weekly hits introducing print, timely new colours, textures and embellishments. I’m sold. This concept collection will only grow stronger.
