Chutzpah’s Weekly Barometer – LFW special

by Katie on February 25, 2011

A light hearted look back over the past week’s good, bad and indifferent including the “don’t even go there’s”.

London’s Golden Girls  Holly Fulton (catwalk pic, left), Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilincic and Alice Temperley take it to the next level.

High Swishy Ponytails  Slicked back hair and high top ponytails agogo. Time to colour match that hair extension.

Let’s Hear It For The Boys The campaign to get the Menswear Day de-marginalised and moved to the middle of London Fashion Week starts HERE.

Fur In London? Whodathunk it?

Vauxhall Fashion Scout A particularly strong season for this off-schedule showcase.

Black lipstick  It’s everywhere.  Go for full glam Goth theme and go directly to Post Punk vixen with the help of Barry M’s Lip Paint (no: 37) priced £4.59.  Available at Top Shop and Superdrug as well as

Trends  Reports of the death of ‘The Trend’ have been greatly exaggerated, mostly by lazy journos.  REMEMBER:Three is the magic number.

Paul Weller  Out supporting his model son and still looking sharp. Good on ya’ fella.

The new On/Off venue  A cramped backstreet shed that doesn’t do the designers, or anybody further back than the second row, any favours.

That #LFW coincided with Half Term Scarily like ‘take your daughter to work’ day. At Charlie le Mindu too (left). *tsks*

Queue Clowns  FYI it’s not all about you and it’s rude to wear a hat indoors.  Especially if you’re blocking the eyeline of the people sat behind you.

Nicki Minaj  The Black Barbie/Gaga/Whatever.  We say – a Lidl Lil’ Kim dressed like a blind transexual hooker.  Come back Missy, hip-hop needs you!

Show music  Adele: Again and again.  Holly had us smiling all day, but it was downhill from there until the frantic fidget house pumped out at Kokon To Zai.

For dogs on the catwalk.
  ie.  Not the models.

For mad dashes to venues all over town  We don’t ALL have private #LFW Mercedes.

Givenchy’s new Photo-Perfection Light Foundation  So light and easy to apply. Gave a smooth, light enhancing complexion and helped ‘radiance’ if not exactly bestowing it completely on this tired blogger! Available in 6 shades, Photo-Perfection’s ultra light texture is one to try out. Priced at £30.50 and available from stockists nationwide.

Nandos  Nearest stop for fulfilment was Covent Garden.  We salute you.

Flats  In the bag and shoved on and off feet between venues.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream  Renewed my skin, gave it much needed hydration and made it feel normal not stressed.  £76.60 for 50ml.  A Winner of the Best Day Cream at Natural Health Beauty Awards 2010.

Totally agree about the Mercer Street venue, what a dive! And all the people dressed up in the queue, blocking your entrance, and your view… Also, I got a free sample of that Elemis cream in a Jayne Pierson gift bag – love it, but love the cleansers more! For once, I might actually be tempted to buy the full-sized product :/ I like to think advertising doesn’t work on me.

LFW would bore me, but you never do. Thanks for all the trustworthy fashion reportage, you rock. xxx
