Maia Norman opens Pop Up Shop ‘Mother of Pearl’ in London’s New Bond St.

by Katie on April 16, 2011

Last Wednesday, Maia Norman, fashion designer and wife of Damien Hirst, launched an exclusive Pop Up Store, Mother of Pearl, in London’s New Bond Street (open until 11th May).
The store was crammed with covetable goodies including gorgeous floral themed print separates, eye-popping artworks and huge floral headed mannequins as well as one or two celebrities (as one would expect) at such a prestigious art meets fashion launch, such as Paul Simonon, Bobby Gillespie, Katy England, Jarvis Cocker (who DJ’ed alongside Sunday Girl) and Bip Ling .
Featuring idiosyncratic, music themed prints from Glaswegian artist and Chutzpah compatriot, Jim Lambie, Norman said of his work, “…there’s just so much about his work that translates easily to fashion.”

Key pieces to look out for include the Nova Dress, Elven tee, Havana jumpsuit, Ortis Anorak and the Toro jumpsuit.
Catch Mother of Pearl while you can at 36 New Bond Street, London W1.

Blimey, I was too busy drinking cocktails and blathering on about Jarvis to notice Paul Simonon (hangs head in shame.)
