Net- A-Porter and Mr Porter Celebrate the arrival of Dolce & Gabbana

by Katie on July 15, 2011

It was all systems go at the Dolce & Gabbana arrival launch party to end all parties last night at the secret squirrel HQ of Net-A-Porter in West London.

So secret in fact that the postcode to the offices is in barren wasteland nowhere near  the location much to the chagrin of many party attendees including David Gandy & Jude Law’s stylist who accompanied me wandering aimlessly in search of glamma.  We then had the multo bizarro situation with David Gandy (yes, the real one) guiding us to the correct location via text and phone and meeting us on the door.  At least that lifted the stress and nosediving gid I felt on arrival.  (Btw chaps and chapesses, it’s in the swanky offices on the 2nd floor above Waitrose to save anyone else my disastrous location experience).

And then the champagne ran out as I finally got to the bar.  Aaaah!   I blamed the full moon. Some nights are just like that, more’s the pity.  Never mind, there was free-flowing Grey Goose vodka and Martini Gold cocktails and three deep throngs at the bars at either end of the room in the swishest Logan’s Run type offices that spelled plus chic and plus plush.

Attendees waiting to worship at the alter of Messrs Dolce & Gabbana included the ultra fashionable, the feted, the glamorous and the plain old multi-famous international celebrities including Queen Latifah (wow!), David Gandy (natch), Naomi Campbell (guided by a ring of PRs/assts), Pixie Geldof, Henry Holland, Kelly Osbourne, Pixie Lott,  Douglas Booth, Tara and Otis Ferry, Roksanda Illincic and Mary Katrantzou (two of my fave UK designers), Jaime Winstone and Nat Weller.

Guests were invited to team up and pose for their own picture postcard riding Italian vintage Vespas with wind machine to give that ‘live’ effect while handsome waiters (some literally grabbing the attention of the Dolce & Gabbana boys in the hope of a catwalk opportunity) served canapes by Locanda Locatelli.

There was even live music by up and coming star, Sunday Girl which added a pleasant extra dimension before disco and house favourites were ramped up to get people moving on the dance floor.

All in all The Perfect Party from the World’s best fashion website.  Just a shame that it took me an hour to find it.

Dolce & Gabbana collections are now available on Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter.

Had similar problem trying to find the party. But very glad I did!
