Estee Lauder introduces The Modern Mercury collection by Tom Pecheux

by Katie on August 11, 2011

For Autumn ’11, Estee Lauder has released a set of pure subtle golden and beige led tones, The Pure Colour Modern Mercury Collection. This limited edition range is texturally graphic,  inspired by modern, avant-garde architecture.

Says Pecheux, My inspiration for this collection comes from the creative reflections found in modern architecture, in the phenomenal modern buildings that are like pieces of art.  The buildings never, ever look the same colour because they are reflecting what is around them. It is the same idea with this collection, you are wearing the same makeup, but you never end up looking the same way

Molten metallic eyes become the focus on a soft shimmering canvas and are complemented by edgy matte lips and a twisted shade of green on the nails.  First debued at the Derek Lam A/W 2011 show (pictured below), Pecheux intended creating a look reminiscent of rogue femininity combined with modern minimalism that was truly passionate and chic.

Skin is softly blurred with just a hint of shimmer while eyes are boldly graphic and flaunt the metallic trend of the season and lips are dusted with a matte finish in contagious shades of beige, pink and red.  Nails are finished in a manic shade of green for an unexpected accent.

Three new Pure Colour EyeShadow Duos in Modern Mercury, Black Chrome and Platinums are a powerful mix of textures that highlight and illuminate eyes with a mysterious blend of reflective hues.  Each Duo is housed in a golden-mirrored compact with oversized mirror for easy application.   Finish with a new Pure Colour Liquid Eyeliner in one of three highly pearlised shades of Graphite, Black Quartz and Silver Zinc that deliver a dramatic effect that finishes any eye look.  Chic.

Also new is the Pure Colour Illuminating Powder Gellee that is a “tribrid” system of liquid, powder and gel which revolutionises makeup application and wear.  This first-of-a-kind, “multi-powder” formula creates a theatrical blur of shimmer on the skin when applied dry and a fierce flush of colour when applied wet.

For lips, choose from the Pure Colour Velvet Lipstick in Nude Velvet, Fuchsia Velvet or Red Velvet. This soft matte formula lipstick saturates lips with a lush, velvet finish and is pigment-rich for a unique, unparalleled wear. Non-drying and ultra creamy, they create a bold statement.

Prices range from £28 for the Illuminating Powder Gellee, £18.50 for Pure Colour Velvet Lipstick, £22.50 for Pure Colour EyeShadow duos, £19.50 for eyeliners and £14 for the Nail Lacquer in Metallic Sage.

All items are currently available from Estee Lauder counters nationwide.
