Loewe Rides Out in the Sleekest Manner for AW’12

by Katie on March 5, 2012

Loewe’s brand of sleek, masterful power bitch is back regaling in her luxurious supple leather and ponyskin.

Stuart Vevers may be in his 5th year at Loewe but each season he takes this label to new heights while laying claim to its hefty heritage status. This is a man who not only understands what women want but how brands grow and evolve.

Vevers started the show with college type blousons paired with gathered, finely printed leather skirts. Then, fur gilets appeared with leather cuffs and lapels sharper and pointer than a Sabatier knife. Simple wool shifts gathered with leather half-belts, to create a drape, oozed poise while long-line, collarless jackets had belted neck detailing and large leather pockets as features. Vevers brought the long waistcoat as an over-dress bang up to date while ornate, punched leather evening dresses and skirts breathed savoir vivre and Spanish haute class.

Batallions of fur gilets paired with the softest suede trousers skirts lined in pastel pink rocked a younger feel as did the exemplary Spanish riding cape in hard sheeny leather, like wearing the most luxe saddle. 1960s touches came through in the single breasted boxy jackets with four pocket detailing, skirt suits and dresses.

This was a masterful collection overdosing on ideas and razor sharp updates on how to make leather new while making strides in creative direction. Vevers makes this house his own.
