YSL Beauty introduces Wet Look ‘Summer Splash 2015’

by Katie on May 10, 2015

The first thing that struck me re the new YSL Summer Splash 2015 collection was just how wet and hot Cara’s lips looks. Beyond sexual. Chameleon Cara can either look hard-edged aggressive and edgy or smouldering with a hint of danger and in this new campaign, Delevigne’s wet-look lips and metallic shadowed eyelids say Summer sexiness in heaps.

Pop Water 206

YSL’s new vernis à levres Pop Water is an intense shade to the eye but weaker on application to the lips range of twelve shades of translucent loveliness. Yes, the colour may seem intense through its spy peep hole but on application, the colour has to be built one two, three times to create such and intensity of shade. Of course, the merest slick of pale colour is mostly what YSL girls will want to achieve for Summer with this latest lighter than liquid silk release. The packaging, as ever, is as sleek and distinctive as befits YSL with its heritage gold and black peppered with the intensely coloured product peeping through, giving a glimpse of the intense colour, glam, watery brilliance contents inside. Choose from names such as dewy red (201), rose cascade (211), orange drop (212) and misty pink (206). The latter is  a brilliant watery fuchsia with a slight violet tone (pictured above) – one slick is enough but I preferred a double coat of pink hotness.

Full Metal Shadow - No.3 Taupe Drop

To match the lips, the eyes are drenched in a metallic 1970s style glaze. I love this Full Metal Shadow product. From the just-a-tinge-of retro packaging to the gleaming metallic aquatic contents. It’s a slither of shadow that’s so easy to apply and get right with one swoosh. The selection of ten liquid shadows has a long-lasting formula and boasts a 16 hour lifespan…though that’s yet to be put to the test. Pearlised pigments are the key to the metallic wash effect in shades of grey splash (no 1), steamy coral (no 5), dewy gold (no 8) and taupe drop (no 3). Taupe drop is the perfect day to evening colour – classy enough for office but zsusched up with gold or aquatic copper (no 7) for evening, this shade is adaptable.

To finish, YSL have a new range of pop water nail lacquers with buildable intensity. Choose from rouge wet (no 63), fuchsia rain (no 64, rose splash (no 65) or orange drop (no 66). Now who doesn’t like an aquatic splash of bright orange nail colour for Summer? No-one.

YSL’s Summer Splash 2015 collection launches 27th May from YSL counters nationwide. Prices are vernis à levres pop water (£26), full metal shadow (£21) and la lacque couture pop water for nails (£19).
